The central eastern Anatolian region of Sivas, which is mainly agricultural, is predominately Kurdish Weaving continues in Eastern Anatolia on a small scale and the Kurds are well known for a sense of originally and vital expression that has remained intact in todays weavings.Many prayer arch kilims come from here, as well as small kilims, large splitweaves and some decorative cicms.The designs of the large medallion kilims feature oblong central medallions, with many varied smaller filler motifs such as stars or ' wolf tracks' often surrounded by a leaf or vine pattern. Saf kilims (multiple prayer arch), runners and some cicims pillows bags and grainsacks are all woven in fine slitweave technique in the Sivas area.
Colours are a lighter hue than other Kurdish weavings, particularly noticeable in the lustrous reds, softer greens, orange and yellow.Occassionally white cotton is used to highlight designs .The wool is lustrous and finely spun and the colors are always beautiful and clear
